Bamboo Zen

This is a city apartment in Düsseldorf with tall windows onto a street of white façades, and the whole project is built on texture. Each room has one natural material that carries it: wood in the living room, natural leather in the bedroom, natural linen in the children's room. They're materials you want to touch, they age well, and together they give the flat a feeling of stability and calm — a home that feels sure of itself. The mood is quietly Japanese: natural materials, soft light and nothing more than the room needs.

In the living room, pale oak wraps the walls in slatted and flat panels, with tall bamboo murals in soft bronze between them, lit from the edges so they glow in the evening. An open oak shelving unit separates the lounge from the dining area, and behind it a small home gym sits against dark textured tiles. The bedroom wall is clad in natural leather under a dark ceiling, and in the children's room linen covers the wall behind the bed.
